You are trying to be health conscious, and you are trying to help your body to get the most out of every workout. You have done your research and have found the power of protein in a healthy diet. You have found out the correct levels of protein that you should have in your diet when you are trying to build healthy lean muscle. You have increased the water that you are drinking to help your body to process the waste that will come from your body burning fat and repairing its muscle. You are feeling healthy and happy. Yet, many people aren't looking closely enough at how they are getting the additional protein in their diet.

Many protein supplements that you might be taking contain high amounts of excess fillers that won't provide you with the best results. Many protein bars are good examples of this. Many manufactures of protein bars market them as energy bars. Something that you could take on a hike, bike ride, run, or other physically demanding event and give you an instant boast in energy. The problem with this is many time for people that are trying to lose weight and workout that energy boost is counterproductive. The energy that the bar provides usually comes from simple sugar. That simple sugar will give your body a jolt of energy to contain a workout, but it defeats the purpose of a workout. The point of the workout is to force your body to burn excess energy, and thereby forcing your body to burn the fat that it has stored up. If you are providing your body with a simple energy supply half way through a workout, then your body will use that simple energy to power itself. You will find it easier to do the workout, but you will be getting much less results. Aside from the added by products in protein bars, the majority of them are soy based. Soy protein is higher in carbohydrates and fats, both things that you are trying to avoid when you are trying to lose weight. It is also harder for your body to metabolize soy protein, which means that you won't be getting the maximum results. Aside from the actual product, protein bars often taste much worse than other protein supplements.

A better way to get protein into your body is through a good whey protein powder supplement. Whey protein powder is usually combined with liquid and drank. This usually improves the taste of the protein compared to the bars. Whey protein is dairy based, which means that your body can use the protein more efficiently. It also means that fewer people develop indigestion which is a side effect of soy protein. Whey protein isolates also contain a much higher ratio of protein, usually over 90% pure protein. That means that there are far fewer fats and carbohydrates in the mixture compared to other protein supplements.

Whey protein is a great solution for people that are really trying to get the best form of protein into their diet. It tastes better, is easier to digest, and provides the highest percentage of protein without the additional carbohydrates and fats that other proteins contain. It might be very convenient to chomp down on a protein bar when you are exercising, but you are doing yourself a disservice.
